Disciplines and community

One freediving profile across pool, depth, and static disciplines

Freediving includes distinct disciplines measured by time, distance, or depth. apnia keeps those results clearly labeled while giving freedivers a shared place to post training updates and encourage trusted buddies.

Keep different disciplines distinct

Static apnea records breath-hold duration while remaining still. Dynamic disciplines record horizontal distance, commonly with fins or without fins. Depth disciplines record vertical depth and differ in how a diver descends and ascends.

apnia supports static apnea, dynamic apnea, free immersion, constant weight, and other recognized training categories. Each personal best is attached to its discipline so unlike results are not collapsed into one score.

  • Static disciplines are recorded by time.
  • Dynamic pool disciplines are recorded by distance.
  • Depth disciplines are recorded by depth.
  • Notes can preserve the context that a measurement alone cannot show.

Build a trusted circle of dive buddies

The community experience centers on people you choose to follow rather than a global leaderboard. You can find other freedivers, connect with buddies, react to updates, and celebrate their milestones.

Visibility controls support different kinds of sharing. A milestone may be public, a regular session may be for buddies, and a personal reflection may remain private. These settings control sharing in apnia; they do not indicate who supervised a real-world session.

Community supports safety, but does not replace supervision

Online encouragement is not the same as an in-water buddy. Posts, reactions, notifications, and recorded results cannot monitor a diver or respond during a session.

Never freedive alone. Learn discipline-appropriate procedures from a qualified professional and train under direct supervision with a capable, attentive buddy. Follow local rules and assess conditions before entering the water.
